The base of this edition is the Dragonzord – known in Kyoryu Sentai Zyuranger as the Guardian Beast Dragon Caesar, the guardian mecha of Burai, the DragonRanger. In Mighty Morphin Power Rangers it belongs to Tommy, the Green Ranger, who summons it from the sea with the Dragon Dagger (the Dragon Flute in Japan). With its drill tail, missile-firing fingertips and that unmistakable battle cry, it's one of the most iconic mechas in the whole franchise.

The Legacy Collection is Bandai America's premium reissue of the classic DX zords – featuring die-cast parts, sharper paintwork and full compatibility with the Legacy Dino Megazord and Titanus. This Black Edition (officially the Black & Gold Limited Edition) is a limited recolor: instead of the familiar green, the Dragonzord arrives in deep black with gold accents. First shown at San Diego Comic-Con 2016 and later sold as a Toys"R"Us exclusive, it's one of the more sought-after Legacy variants.

Under the new finish it's all the good stuff: a hefty die-cast body, a fully articulated drill tail and complete combinability. Pair it with the black-and-gold versions of the Megazord and Titanus and you can even build the full Black & Gold Ultrazord – a genuine shelf centerpiece for collectors who like their zords a little darker and a touch more premium.
