Daijinryuu (大神龍, "Great God Dragon") is not an ordinary Dairanger mecha but a neutral, divine force — a colossal, Chinese-dragon-like deity that watches over the balance between good and evil. He sides with neither the Dairangers nor the Gorma, and no hero ever pilots him. Daijinryuu awakens only when that cosmic balance has been seriously disturbed; then he descends, issues an ultimatum to both warring factions, and destroys anything that threatens the order without mercy or favor.

That is exactly what makes him one of the most imposing presences in the show. Daijinryuu dwarfs every battle robot and monster, and his fire breath is devastating in proportion. He has two forms — an elongated, coiling dragon mode and an upright, knight-like warrior mode that wields a massive sword. This almost apocalyptic, incorruptible aura sets him firmly apart from the usual giant-robot duels of the franchise.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers (Season 2, the Thunderzord era) adapted a great deal of Dairanger material. Daijinryuu is generally regarded as the Sentai basis for — and counterpart to — Serpentera, Lord Zedd's gigantic warzord. The adaptation is a loose one, though: the neutral arbiter-god was reworked into the main villain's personal battle zord, infamous for constantly running out of power. Notably, Bandai America never issued a DX toy based on this form; the US Serpentera was an entirely separate, newly designed toy.

The original DX Daijinryuu was released in 1993 exclusively by Bandai Japan and ranks among the largest, most impressive DX releases of its era — a hefty piece of roughly 45 cm with die-cast content. The highlight is its transformation: the stretched-out dragon can be rebuilt into the upright warrior form, complete with an included sword. Because this mold was never reissued for Western markets, the Japanese vintage original is a coveted, comparatively rare collector's item — a genuine showpiece in any Dairanger display.
