Description
This variant is based on the Galaxy Megazord — in Japan the "Gingaioh" from Seijuu Sentai Gingaman, the main combining robot of the Galaxy Rangers led by Red Ranger Leo Corbett. It forms from the five Galactabeasts (the Seijū/Star Beasts): the Lion Galactazord assembles the torso and head, the Wolf and Wildcat become the right and left arms, the Gorilla makes up the hips and legs, and the Condor sits at the waistline (also serving as the back-mounted Condor Missile Mode). In battle the giant wields the mighty Galaxy Megazord Saber (the Silver Armor Sword in Japan).
As a toy, the base mold comes from Bandai: released in Japan as "Seiju Gattai Gingaioh" (1998) and in the US from 1999 as the Deluxe Galaxy Megazord. Every version relies on the classic transformation-and-combination gimmick plus a solid amount of die-cast in the body — Bandai America additionally offered a premium "Exclusive Die-Cast DX Gingaioh" and a gold FAO Schwarz special. A heavy, satisfyingly hefty robo with real metal content and a great sense of stability.
The Black Edition is a black recolor of that very mold: the same combination mechanics and the same die-cast core, just in a dark, "stealth"-style paint job instead of the classic red-and-silver look. For collectors it's an appealing shelf highlight — the familiar Galaxy Megazord in a menacing, sleek black finish, perfect as a contrast standing beside the original color scheme.
