Description
The Kinkyu Gattai Victory Robo is the primary mecha of Kyukyu Sentai GoGoFive (1999) – the rescue team of the five Tatsumi siblings who defend humanity against the demonic Saima Clan. True to the show's rescue theme, the robot is formed not from fighter jets but from five emergency vehicles, the so-called 99Machines. On the command "Kinkyu Gattai!" (Emergency Fusion!) they instantly combine into Victory Robo. In Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue (2000), this exact mecha is known as the Lightspeed Megazord.
Its five components are Red Ladder (GoRed's ladder fire truck, forming the body and arms), Blue Thrower (GoBlue's chemical fire engine armed with four extinguisher cannons, forming the hips), Green Hover (GoGreen's agile VTOL jet), Yellow Armor (a heavy construction and recovery vehicle) and Pink Aider (a rescue vehicle). A signature feature of GoGoFive is the partial combination Victory Walker, assembled from only Blue Thrower, Yellow Armor and Pink Aider – intended for especially severe fires when the full robot isn't required.
Victory Robo wields the Braver Sword, which materializes from the emblem on its belt. Supercharged with "Plus Energy," it delivers its flaming finishing slash, the Victory Prominence, to destroy the "Minus Energy" of the giant Saima Beasts. Its expansion pack is the AI-controlled Liner Boy, whose armor docks onto Victory Robo to form the more powerful Max Victory Robo, gaining jets in its feet and constant solar power.
As a DX toy, Victory Robo was released by Bandai Japan in the "DX Chogokin" line featuring die-cast parts. The appeal lies in genuine combination play: all five vehicles can be played with individually and hand-assembled into the robot (or into Victory Walker), complete with a removable Braver Sword. Bandai America issued the same mold as the "Deluxe Lightspeed Megazord"; as was typical of US reissues of the era, die-cast content and paint applications tended to be reduced in favor of more stickers. A classic, highly collectible centerpiece for any GoGoFive/Lightspeed display.
