Description
The Elephant Wildzord — GaoElephant in the original Hyakujuu Sentai Gaoranger — is one of the Gaoranger team's additional Power Animals. Its Gao Jewel lay sealed away for ages until it was awakened. Unlike most Power Animals, the elephant is not a limb of a combined robo but a transformable weapon: through the "Hundred Beast Armament" he turns into the Elephant Sword and Elephant Shield, arming GaoKing as "GaoKing Sword & Shield" — with the finisher "Powerful Bisection: Evil Crusher."
That makes him a genuine oddity for collectors: GaoElephant is the only Wildzord that never forms part of a Megazord's body, remaining pure weaponry — and the only one never given a regular release in the U.S. Power Rangers Wild Force toyline. Bandai Japan's DX toy captures exactly this gimmick: the elephant folds open and splits into the sword and shield, which then mount onto GaoKing.
This Black Edition is a black-and-silver recolor in the DX format, continuing the long Sentai tradition of "black robos" (which began with the Black Daizyujin, later adapted for the U.S. as the Black Megazord). The black GaoElephant came as a store exclusive bundled with the "Gao Knight" set (Toys-R-Us) and pairs perfectly with the equally black Black Gao King: together they complete the full "Black Gao King Sword & Shield." Mechanically identical to the standard release but finished in a sleek dark paint job — a treat for color-variant hunters.
