Description
GaoPanda is one of the most infamous rarities of the entire Gaoranger era: a black-and-white repaint of the bear Power Animals GaoBear and GaoPolar. He never appears in the TV series — his sole „appearance" is on the drama CD „Hyakuju Sentai Gaoranger Gao Access CD: Gao Panda Appears!!". In that story GaoPanda, the only Power Animal completely unfazed by the blizzard, shows up and takes down the Snowman Org single-handedly. A canonical fighter, then — but one you could only hear, never see.
Structurally GaoPanda is a true bear: just like GaoBear and GaoPolar, he clips onto GaoGorilla as an arm and becomes part of GaoMuscle (the Kongazord in Power Rangers Wild Force). That means he shares the signature gimmick of the bear twins — the hinged, opening jaw for the „Bear Strike", in which GaoMuscle fires blasts of scorching heat and freezing cold from its double-knuckle fists. The panda deco is a clever touch: black and white unite the two color worlds of GaoBear (black) and GaoPolar (white) in a single figure.
That is exactly what makes the DX so coveted. GaoPanda was never a regular retail item but the grand prize in a lottery run by Terebi-kun magazine around the Gao Access CD — and only roughly 100 units were awarded worldwide. That makes the DX GaoPanda one of the rarest Sentai mecha ever produced. It exists solely as a Bandai Japan exclusive; no Bandai America or Hasbro Wild Force counterpart was ever made. Landing a loose, complete example today means holding a genuine piece of collector legend in your hands.
