Description
Karakuri Ball 13, the "Karakuri Stamp" (カラクリスタンプ, 印 = stamp/seal), belongs to the Karakuri Balls – the spherical weapon modules that form the heart of the Hurricaneger arsenal. The ninja summon them via Shinobi Medals slotted into the cockpits of Senpuujin, Gouraijin and Tenkuujin. Senpuujin and Gouraijin launch the balls from their chests, Tenkuujin generates them between its hands, and the carrier mecha Revolver Mammoth serves as a rolling depot for the entire set. Inside every sphere sits a special weapon, tool or part.
As the name suggests, the Karakuri Stamp conceals a giant seal stamp (hanko) – its matching Shinobi Medal is marked with the character 印. It appeared just once in the show: Hurricane Red deployed it for the "Stamp Hundred Hand Press" (スタンプ百烈押し, Sutanpu Hyakuretsu Oshi) attack, hammering the enemy down with a barrage of lightning-fast stamping blows. That makes it one of the wonderfully quirky, distinctly Japanese ninja gadgets that give this season so much of its charm – more of a lovable oddity than a regular fighter.
As a toy, the Karakuri Stamp is part of Bandai's DX Karakuri Ball line: compact spheres that pop open to reveal their weapon or tool form before being docked onto the respective mecha. In the US release (Power Rangers Ninja Storm) these modules were sold as "Power Spheres" – distinguishable, among other things, by a visible hole in the ball, while transparent variants of the Japanese Karakuri Balls also exist. A small but delightful detail piece that rounds out the bond between Senpuujin and its playful arsenal.
