The base of this piece is the Storm Megazord — known in Japan as Senpuujin (旋風神), the main combining mecha of the Wind Rangers from Power Rangers Ninja Storm / Ninpu Sentai Hurricaneger (2002). It is formed by fusing three Karakuri ninja machines: the Hawkzord (Red, forming the torso and head), the Lionzord (Yellow) and the Dolphinzord (Blue), which make up the arms and legs. A nimble swordsman, the Storm Megazord summons Power Spheres from its chest and serves as the season's classic "first robo."

The Black Edition is the black recolor of this classic. In 2002, Bandai Japan released the limited "DX Gourai Senpuujin Black Version" — a set that bundled black versions of Senpuujin, Gouraijin and the support mecha Fuuraimaru. This Storm Megazord Black Edition is the black Senpuujin from that release: mechanically identical to the standard DX (same transformation and combination action, same gimmicks), but finished entirely in sleek black with altered color accents.

Among Hurricaneger / Ninja Storm collectors, the black version is a coveted, now-scarce Japan-exclusive — a genuine eye-catcher standing next to the standard Senpuujin on the shelf.
