Description
DekaWing Robo is the flying support mecha of the Special Police Dekaranger, purpose-built by Cignian scientist Swan Shiratori for battles in the air and in orbit — exactly the arena where the ground-based Dekaranger Robo reaches its limits. It is formed from five DekaWing flight machines launched from the mobile S.P.D. headquarters, DekaBase, which assemble on the call "Tokusou Gattai!" (Special Investigation Combination). In the US adaptation Power Rangers S.P.D. it appears as the S.W.A.T. Megazord.
Its standout trick: DekaWing Robo is the first five-piece combiner mecha in Super Sentai history that transforms not only into a robot but fully into a weapon — the massive DekaWing Cannon. In cannon mode it is wielded by Dekaranger Robo, which uses it to unleash its devastating buster finisher. Other mecha can also channel their energy through the cannon, as in the All Star Ultimate Buster (Dekaranger Robo, DekaBike Robo and DekaBase Robo combined) or the Twin Robo Ultimate Buster alongside DekaBike Robo.
Bandai's DX toy (Japan, 2004) captures that dual nature perfectly: the sturdy robot converts into the oversized DekaWing Cannon, which plugs straight into the hands of the DX Dekaranger Robo — putting the playable cannon combination right on your shelf. As was typical of Bandai's DX line of the era, the original carries a satisfying heft thanks to die-cast content. In North America, Bandai America released the same tooling as the Deluxe S.W.A.T. Megazord in the Power Rangers S.P.D. line, with paintwork adapted to the show.
For collectors, DekaWing Robo is a key piece: at once a standalone robot, a giant hand-held cannon, and the building block that elevates Dekaranger Robo to its most powerful form. Anyone who owns the full Deka fleet (Dekaranger Robo, DekaBike Robo, DekaBase Robo) can recreate combinations all the way up to the spectacular All Star Ultimate Buster — one of the finest gimmick chains of the early-2000s DX era.
