Description
SaintKaiser (Tenkuu Gattai SaintKaiser, "Heavenly Combination") is a movie-exclusive combining Majin from the film "Mahou Sentai Magiranger the Movie: Bride of Infershia" (2005). It is formed by the union of Saint MagiPhoenix – Kai's MagiPhoenix elevated to its holy "Saint" form by the power of the sacred unicorn – and the Horned Sacred Horse Unigolon. A radiant white-and-gold figure of light, SaintKaiser is the heroic mirror of WolKaiser, the dark rider-robo built from Wolzard and Barikion (known in Power Rangers as the Centaurus Wolf Megazord). Where WolKaiser rises from the "Ankoku Gattai" (Dark Combination), SaintKaiser is its luminous answer.
The heart of the machine is Unigolon, a sacred white unicorn Majin – essentially the sanctified, benevolent counterpart to Wolzard's dark steed Barikion. When MagiPhoenix is carried by Unigolon it transforms into Saint MagiPhoenix, and together they build up through three stages: Unigolon Ride Mode, the centaur-like Saint Centaur, and finally the upright SaintKaiser (roughly 46 meters, 4000 tons). Its weapon is the Saint Horn – Unigolon's horn, wielded as a mighty sword. Within the Magiranger cosmos Unigolon belongs to the realm of the Heavenly Saints, which gives the whole steed its angelic, holy aura.
As a DX toy, SaintKaiser was released only by Bandai Japan as a movie tie-in, and it is a redeco of the DX WolKaiser: Barikion is repainted white and given a unicorn horn to become Unigolon, and the knight figure is restyled as Saint MagiPhoenix. All three transformation stages – rider mode, centaur, and full Megazord – are retained, as is the Saint Horn sword gimmick. Important for collectors: while Power Rangers Mystic Force never adapted the theatrical movie, the underlying rider-combination did reach the US – Bandai America released it under Mystic Force as the "Steedergon Fury Megazord," where it appeared in the show as the Phoenix Unizord (see its own entry). Under the name "SaintKaiser," and in its Japanese deco, the piece nonetheless stayed Japan-exclusive and is correspondingly sought-after.
A modern addition for the display case: Bandai later reissued SaintKaiser as an SMP (Shokugan Modeling Project) release – a Premium Bandai model kit bundling Saint MagiPhoenix, Unigolon, and, as a bonus, the very first fully poseable Wolzard Fire figure. It lets you recreate this heroic rider-combination in fully articulated form for the first time.
