Description
WolKaiser (ウルカイザー) is arguably the darkest mecha in the entire Magiranger saga, and one of the very few that fights on the side of evil. It is formed when the Dark Magic Knight Wolzard merges with his loyal steed, the Dark Magic Horse Barikion, into a towering war machine. In Power Rangers Mystic Force this role belongs to Koragg the Knight Wolf, who combines with his Zord Catastros to form the Centaurus Wolf Megazord.
Unlike the heroic MagiMajin of the Ozu siblings, WolKaiser is a pure antagonist mecha, and a fearsome one: in its intermediate stage it appears as a massive centaur (WolKentaurus / Centaurus) before Barikion unfolds into an upright knight-robot with Wolzard himself forming its chest armor. Armed with a double-bladed staff (the "Darkness Staff" in Mystic Force), WolKaiser outclassed the five Rangers for a long stretch of the show, overpowering even MagiKing and the assembled Mystic Titans in sheer strength. Only late in the series is the secret beneath the armor revealed: the Heavenly Saint Blagel, in truth Isamu Ozu, the siblings' father who had been cursed by N Ma (in Mystic Force: Leanbow, father of Nick).
After Wolzard's redemption the adversary becomes a powerful ally, and the combination lineup expands with him: Barikion can then merge with MagiPhoenix to form the fiery FireKaiser (Centaurus Phoenix Megazord in Mystic Force), so the same base figure yields two very different giant mechas.
The DX toy was released by Bandai in Japan in 2005; in the US, Bandai America issued it for the Mystic Force season as the "Centaurus Wolf Megazord," bundled with the matching Wolzard/Koragg figure that is essential for the combination. Converting the galloping horse Barikion together with the knight yields the standing Kaiser robot, a gloriously chunky, hefty piece of the DX era and one of the most sought-after "villain Zords" among collectors. For those chasing full articulation, Bandai also reissued the figure in 2025 as a highly poseable SMP model kit, unlocking poses, wings, and combinations the original DX couldn't manage.
