Description

The DualDrive Megazord is the second major combination from Power Rangers Operation Overdrive and the counterpart to DaiTanken from GoGo Sentai Boukenger. It forms when the Sonic Streaker (Boukenger's jet) links up with the four auxiliary Drivers: the Drill and Shovel Drivers become the arms, while the Cement and Crane Drivers form the legs. Unlike the main robo DriveMax Megazord (DaiBouken), this configuration appeared on screen only twice — once when the DriveMax Ultrazord broke apart so the auxiliary zords could face Crazar as the DualDrive Megazord, and again during the second battle against Agrios. Its finisher, "Full Power," unleashes a combined quadruple beam of orange, cyan, green and indigo energy from its limbs.

As a DX toy, the base Megazord is very much a product of the Bandai America era: released in 2007 as a standalone, completely new mold — not a reissue of the Japanese DaiTanken (2006), but a form purpose-built for the US market. Where Bandai Japan sold its GoGo Vehicles individually, letting collectors assemble DaiTanken piece by piece, the American DualDrive shipped as a single boxed combiner.

This Black Edition is a black recolor of that base mold: the same combination mechanics, but wrapped in an all-over darkened, "blackout" finish that trades the construction-site brights for a compact, menacing look. In all honesty, no widely documented mass-retail black release of the DualDrive mold is known — unlike, say, the verified SDCC 2015 Black Edition of the Legacy Megazord — so within the collection this piece is best catalogued as a special/recolor edition. And that's exactly the appeal: a familiar Overdrive chassis in a rare, all-black collector finish.
