Description
Valve Max Black Edition is the black special variant of Engine Gattai GunBir-Oh — known in Power Rangers RPM as the ValveMax Megazord. The robot originates in Engine Sentai Go-onger (2008), where it serves as the team's secondary battle mecha: first combined in Episode 7, it forms from the merger of three Engines — Gunpherd (a police car), Birca (a motorcycle) and Carrigator (a crocodile). Its signature loadout is a blaster on the right arm and a spinning blade on the left, and its finisher is the GunBir Grand Prix.
This particular release is the "DX Engine Gattai GunBir-Oh Set Black Version" — a limited run from Bandai's Toy's Dream Project (Japan, 2009) that repaints the original 2008 Engines into a sleek black-and-white scheme. Each Engine comes with its own Engine Soul: slot it in and the machine plays sound effects and lights up its LEDs. Combined, they build an all-black GunBir-Oh that can still link with the rest of the series' Engines to assume more powerful forms.
The contrast is what makes it a collector's piece: the U.S. DX ValveMax Megazord (Bandai America, 2009) was an entirely new mold, sold as a complete set, and dropped the Engine Cell slot along with the lights and sound. The Japanese Black Version keeps the full Engine Soul electronics — and as a Toy's Dream Project retailer-limited edition, it's accordingly hard to find.
