Description
The Kajiki Origami (舵木折神, "Swordfish/Marlin") is one of the secret auxiliary Origami from Samurai Sentai Shinkenger, debuting in Episode 7. Unlike the five core Origami (Shishi, Ryuu, Kame, Kuma, Saru) that form ShinkenOh, it belongs – together with the Kabuto Origami and the Tora Origami – to the trio of extra "hidden" Origami summoned by the Shinkengers via special disks. The cyan marlin darts through battle and wields its long swordfish bill like a blade. In Power Rangers Samurai it is simply the Swordfish Zord, where the Blue Ranger literally fishes it out of the water.
In combat the Kajiki Origami plays to both of its strengths: it fires Marlin Torpedoes (blue energy bullets) and uses its bill as a sword. Its centerpiece is combining with ShinkenOh into Kajiki ShinkenOh (Samurai Busou Kajiki ShinkenOh) – known in the US version as the Swordfish Fencer Megazord. The marlin latches onto ShinkenOh's back and head to form a powerful twin sword; the finisher is the Swordfish Slash, which channels concentrated blue energy to cleave the enemy straight down.
Beyond that solo pairing, the Kajiki Origami is a building block of one of the show's most spectacular formations: together with the Kabuto Origami and the Tora Origami it unites into DaiTenku (Samurai Battlewing in Power Rangers), where the marlin makes up the left wing and tail section of the flying formation. DaiTenku can then merge with ShinkenOh to become the flight-capable Battlewing Megazord – so the three auxiliary Origami turn the samurai robo into a true aerial fighter.
As a DX toy, the Kajiki Origami was released by Bandai Japan as part of the "Samurai Gattai" Origami line (2009) and came with its own Kajiki Disk. Its fold/transform mechanism shifts the swordfish from vehicle mode into combination mode, letting it plug onto ShinkenOh and stack up with the Kabuto and Tora Origami to build DaiTenku. Bandai America issued the same mold for Power Rangers Samurai as the Swordfish Zord – a must-have for any complete Shinken/Samurai collection, since it's the key to several of the line's super-combinations.
