The Kyoryu Origami (恐竜折神, "Dinosaur Origami") is a crimson-and-black support Origami with razor-sharp teeth, part of the arsenal of Shinken Red / Hyper Shinken Red (Takeru Shiba). It first appeared in the theatrical film "Samurai Sentai Shinkenger the Movie: The Fateful War," then made its television debut in Act 31 alongside Hyper Shinken Red. Fun collector trivia: for years the creature was drawn as a long-necked sauropod — it wasn't until "Super Hero Taisen Z" that it was officially confirmed to actually be a Tyrannosaurus.

The Origami is tightly bound to Takeru's Hyper Mode: the Kyoryu Secret Disk transforms the Shinkenmaru katana into the whip-like Kyoryumaru, whose blade can extend to incredible lengths and strike targets even beyond the wielder's line of sight — and the Kyoryu Origami itself resembles a giant Kyoryumaru. Docked onto ShinkenOh it forms Kyoryu ShinkenOh, wielding the Kyoryuto (Dinosaur Sword) and unleashing its finisher, the Tenchi Issen ("Heaven and Earth Flash"), a vertical bifurcating slash.

In the US adaptation Power Rangers Super Samurai, the dinosaur was reimagined as a shark: as the Shark Zord, the Red Ranger summons it via the Shark Attack Disc, which triggers Shark Attack Mode in the Spin Sword. Combined with the Samurai Megazord it becomes the Samurai Shark Megazord — one part forms the helmet, the rest becomes the sword — whose finisher is fittingly the SharkZord Slash, likewise a vertical bifurcating slash.

As a DX toy, the DX Kyoryu Origami was released by Bandai Japan in 2009 as part of the Samurai Gattai line. It ships with the Kyoryu Secret Disk (Mojikara disk); the figure transforms between dinosaur and blade modes and upgrades the DX ShinkenOh into Kyoryu ShinkenOh. Bandai America issued the counterpart in the Power Rangers Samurai/Super Samurai line as the Shark Zord variant, and a smaller EX version was also produced for those who prefer something more compact. As one of the few movie-exclusive mecha to make the jump to TV — and to the shelf — it's a neat, often-underrated companion piece for any ShinkenOh collection.
