Description
The Samurai Megazord – known in Japan as Samurai Gattai Shinken-Oh – is the central combining robo of Samurai Sentai Shinkenger and Power Rangers Samurai. It forms from five Origami (called FoldingZords in the US line): the Lion (Shinken Red), the Dragon (Shinken Blue), the Turtle (Shinken Pink), the Bear (Shinken Green) and the Ape/Monkey (Shinken Yellow). True to the show's Mojikara ("letter power") theme, each of these folding mecha begins as a flat emblem stamped with a kanji, unfolds into its animal form, and finally assembles into the mighty Shinken-Oh, complete with its lion-head chest and oversized samurai sword.
This "Nippon Edition" isn't a new mold at all – it's the sought-after collector reissue that Bandai America brought to North America in 2013 for the Power Rangers 20th anniversary. Inside the box sits the original Japanese DX Samurai Gattai Shinken-Oh exactly as it shipped in Japan: all of its Japanese paint applications, stickers and original packaging intact. The only additions are a removable outer sleeve reading "Deluxe Samurai Megazord" – carrying the Power Rangers Samurai and Power Rangers 20 logos – and a fresh set of English instructions.
That's precisely the appeal for collectors: you get the full, show-accurate Japanese tooling rather than the simplified US mass-market toy. Unlike Bandai America's cheaper "Zord Builder" Samurai Megazord, all five Origami here can actually fold back into their emblem/kanji mode – the third transformation stage the standard American release left out. Complete kanji paint on the Lion, Dragon and Bear, crisper detailing and true-to-show proportions make the Nippon Edition the definitive DX version of this mecha – Shinken-Oh in Power Rangers clothing, essentially.
