Description
Gosei Ground is the personal mecha of Gosei Knight, the ancient Gosei Angel warrior from "Tensou Sentai Goseiger" (2010, the 34th Super Sentai series). Gosei Knight is not part of the five-member Goseiger core team but appears as a standalone extra warrior (a Sixth-Ranger-type figure). In the US adaptation "Power Rangers Megaforce" (2013), Gosei Knight was reworked as "Robo Knight," and Gosei Ground was released there under the name "Gosei Grand Megazord."
Gosei Ground is formed from the Groundion Headder combined with the two "Knight Brothers," the Sealion Headder and the Skylion Headder. The Groundion Headder itself unfolds into a compact Gosei Knight robot figure; for the larger mecha, the two lion Headders attach as the legs and torso extension. Its weapon is the Gosei Spear, whose finishing attack is the "Ground Great Strike." Through the Headder system, Gosei Ground can also join with the main mecha Gosei Great (and Datas) to form larger configurations, up to Gosei Ultimate.
The DX toy was released in 2010 by Bandai (Japan) as part of the "Gosei Header Series." Like the rest of the Goseiger line it is made predominantly of plastic, with no significant die-cast. The set contains the Groundion/Gosei Knight Headder plus the Sealion and Skylion Headders and an accompanying Gosei Card. It retains all of the line's Headder gimmicks, including the Groundion Headder's transformation into the small Gosei Knight figure, and the parts remain interchangeable with the other Headders in the series. For the US market, the counterpart "Gosei Grand Megazord" was produced separately by Bandai America in 2013; no Hasbro version exists, as Hasbro did not take over the Power Rangers toy license until 2019.
