Description
Pat Striker (Japanese: パトストライカー) originated as DekaRed's personal six-wheeled patrol car in Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger (2004; adapted in the U.S. as Power Rangers S.P.D.), where it forms the body and head of Dekaranger Robo. In Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger (2011) the vehicle returns as the manifestation of the Dekaranger team's "Greater Power" (Grand Power): when the Gokaigers invoke the Dekaranger Ranger Keys, Pat Striker emerges from the hatches of the core mecha GokaiOh and combines with it to form the auxiliary/combination mecha Deka GokaiOh. The same vehicle was adapted for Power Rangers Super Megaforce (2014) as the "Delta Runner Zord," which links up with the Legendary Megazord (that series' counterpart to GokaiOh).
Compared with its Dekaranger incarnation, the Gokaiger-era Pat Striker is upgraded: a Gokaiger emblem on the hood, headlights that fire as laser cannons, and Gatling guns mounted in the wheel hubs for a spinning 360-degree barrage. It can operate independently as a mobile gun platform or break apart and stow inside GokaiOh's torso; as Deka GokaiOh, the robot wields the Striker sections as handheld firearms. The combination's finishing attack is the "Full Blast."
The DX toy was released by Bandai Japan in February 2011 as "DX Gokai Machine 02," the second entry in the Gokai Machine auxiliary-mecha line. It is predominantly plastic and separates into five segments that store completely inside the DX GokaiOh's compartments; the arm sections can also be plugged into GokaiOh's hands as pistols (or into any robo with comparably sized hand holes). Its standout feature is a built-in light-and-sound gimmick (two red LEDs and a single speaker) that, once all five pieces are stored and activated, imitates Deka GokaiOh's "Full Blast" finisher. The North American counterpart, the "Delta Runner Zord" distributed by Bandai America for Super Megaforce, is somewhat larger but omits this electronic gimmick and several paint applications.
