Description

Buster Hercules is the second combat robot from the Japanese series Tokumei Sentai Go-Busters (2012). It belongs not to the core trio but to the later-arriving second Buster team: Beet Buster (Masato Jin) and Stag Buster (the buddyroid Beet J. Stag). In the US adaptation Power Rangers Beast Morphers (Hasbro, 2019/2020), which repurposed the Go-Busters footage years after the Japanese original aired, these two pilots correspond to the Gold and Silver Rangers. Within the mecha hierarchy, Buster Hercules is a secondary megazord that operates alongside the main robot, Go-Buster Oh.

The robot is formed by combining two Buster Machines. BC-04 (Go-Buster Beet in robot mode) can independently shift between robot, vehicle (a crane truck) and animal (a rhinoceros beetle) modes, while SJ-05 appears as a stag-beetle/fighter-jet unit. When the two join, Go-Buster Beet forms the body and the SJ-05 parts supply the weaponry. Fitting the beetle theme (a nod to the Hercules beetle), Buster Hercules carries the Beet Cannon and a Gatling Bazooka on its chest, wields the Stag Launcher rifle in its right hand, and mounts the Stag Shield on its left arm, which can also open into a large pair of scissors. Its finishing attack, the Hercules Crisis, fires all weapons at once.

The DX toy is made by Bandai (Japan) and was released in 2012. It was sold as the combined DX Buster Hercules Set containing both machines, BC-04 and SJ-05; BC-04 was also available separately as the Buster Machine BC-04 DX Go-Buster Beet. The appeal lies in the multiple transformations — BC-04 alone offers three modes — and in docking the two units together to assemble the full Buster Hercules. As was typical for Sentai DX robots of that era, the model is predominantly plastic with some metal content. Under this name and in this configuration it is a Japan-market product; Hasbro's Beast Morphers line did not release an identically named combined set in the same form.
