Description

The Ankylo Zord is the North American name for the mecha originally featured in the Japanese series Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (2013), where it is called Zyudenryu Ankydon (獣電竜アンキドン). In Kyoryuger it is one of the support-class "Guardian" Zyudenryu and is commanded by Ramirez, Kyoryu Cyan. In the Power Rangers adaptation Dino Charge / Dino Super Charge (2015–2016) the Ankylo Zord belongs to the Aqua Ranger (James Navarro). Its design is based on an Ankylosaurus, featuring heavy back armor and the signature clubbed tail.

Like the other Zyudenryu, Ankydon is not a standalone robot but a combining component. It replaces one of the arms of the main robot Kyoryujin (the Dino Charge Megazord in the US continuity), contributing its club/hammer tail as a close-combat weapon. It is commonly paired with the Pachycephalosaurus Zord Bunpachy to form an alternate arm configuration. The articulated tail club and the bulky, armored body are its most distinctive traits.

The DX toy was released in 2013 by Bandai Japan as part of the Kyoryuger Zyudenryu line. It is made predominantly of plastic (no significant die-cast content) and is a purely mechanical combining/transforming figure without electronics; it is packaged with its matching Ankydon Zyudenchi ("Beast Battery") as a collectible accessory. Ankydon converts between beast mode and arm mode and attaches to the DX Kyoryujin. For the US market, Bandai America distributed the mecha within the Dino Charge toy line; no Hasbro version exists, as Hasbro did not acquire the Power Rangers license until 2018.
