Description
The T-Rex Zord is the lead mecha of the Red Ranger. Its Japanese original is Zyudenryu Gabutyra (獣電竜ガブティラ) from "Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger" (2013), the partner Zyudenryu of Kyoryu Red (Daigo Kiryu). In the US adaptation "Power Rangers Dino Charge" (2015) and "Dino Super Charge" (2016) it is simply called the T-Rex Zord and belongs to the Red Ranger, Tyler Navarro. As the Tyrannosaurus rex mecha it is the centerpiece of the show's main Megazord and the first Zord introduced to the team.
Combination and battle mechanics: in the Japanese series Gabutyra links with other Zyudenryu — in its standard formation Stegotchi (Stegosaurus) and Dricera (Triceratops) — to form the humanoid Kyoryujin, with the T-Rex making up the torso and head. The Power Rangers version builds the equivalent Dino Charge Megazord from the T-Rex, Stego and Tricera Zords. Bandai America handled this through its modular "Zord Builder" system, letting the individual dino zords be swapped and re-plugged into different Megazord configurations. Play features are triggered by inserting a Dino Charger, which releases hinged battle gear and a projectile launcher.
The DX toy: the "Deluxe T-Rex Zord" was produced by Bandai America (Bandai held the Power Rangers master toy license until 2018, when Hasbro took over) and shipped in 2016 as part of the Dino Super Charge assortment. It is an all-plastic figure (not die-cast) with a Dino Charger port, a deploying launcher and Zord Builder connection points. The "Limited Edition" offered here is a short-run color variant of that Deluxe Zord, released in alternate decos (including a yellow version) and carried by retailers such as Toys "R" Us and Kmart. Its size and mechanics match the standard release; the collector interest lies solely in the special paint scheme and low production numbers. There is no direct Japanese counterpart to this specific edition — it is a US-exclusive Bandai America item.
