Description
Ovirappoo (Japanese: オヴィラプー) is an Oviraptor-themed Zyudenryu from Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (2013), the 37th Super Sentai series. It is not one of the Ten Great Zyudenryu that partner the core Rangers; instead it belongs to the thirteen "Guardians," lesser support Zyudenryu that aided the great Zyudenryu against the Deboth Army in ancient times. According to the backstory, the Guardians fell fighting the earth demon Gadoma, and their spirits were preserved by the tears of the colossal Zyudenryu Bragigas, surviving as amber-like Zyudenchi (Beast Batteries). Ovirappoo is the seventh Guardian, a vermilion Oviraptor. It does not appear as a distinct Zord in the Power Rangers adaptation Dino Charge / Dino Super Charge (Bandai America, 2015–2016), which effectively makes it Japan-exclusive.
As a Guardian, Ovirappoo is represented mainly through its Zyudenchi, one of the many Beast Batteries loaded into the Gaburevolver and related gear. Its signature ability is a foul-smelling stink/smoke screen used to disable enemies — a support effect rather than a finishing attack. The Guardians serve chiefly as a power source: their combined spirits restore the fallen Bragigas, who rises as the giant robo Gigant Bragi-Oh (and, in full combination, Gigant Bragigas). Unlike Ankydon or Bunpachy, which are full numbered Zyudenryu with their own robo combinations, Ovirappoo is structurally a minor Zyudenryu with no Zord transformation of its own.
There is no standalone DX toy of Ovirappoo. Bandai (Japan) released it in 2013 only as a small collectible: as a Zyudenchi (Beast Battery) — a battery-shaped figure that plugs into the Gaburevolver and the Zyudenryu toys to trigger sounds — and as a miniature in the Shokugan candy-toy kit tied to the Gigant Bragi-Oh line (Ovirappoo as #17, alongside Igeranodon #18). It has no die-cast content and no major transforming mechanism; it is a small-format accessory/candy-toy piece. No Power Rangers counterpart (Bandai America or Hasbro) was ever produced.
