Description

The Spino Charge Megazord comes from Power Rangers Dino Charge and its second season Dino Super Charge (2015–2016), the American adaptation of the Japanese series Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger (2013). Its basis is the Zyudenryu (Guardian Beast) Tobaspino, a Spinosaurus mecha with no fixed Ranger partner in Kyoryuger, first introduced in the Japanese show as a wild, hard-to-control zord. In Power Rangers this machine is called the Spino Zord, and "Spino Charge Megazord" is the battle configuration in which the Spino Zord serves as the core and combines with the Ankylo Zord and Pachy Zord as its arms — the equivalent of the Japanese SpinoDaiOh (Tobaspino + Ankydon + Bunpachy).

Unlike the standard Dino Charge Megazord (which keeps the T-Rex Zord at its core), here the Spinosaurus zord itself forms the core, contributing the torso, head and leg sections, while the Ankylo Zord and Pachy Zord form its two arms. Its most distinctive feature is the large spinal sail of the Spinosaurus, which in combined form doubles as a boomerang-style throwing and striking weapon. As with the rest of the zords, the system is modular: the arm zords can be swapped out, allowing several mixed megazord builds.

As a DX toy the mecha first appeared in Japan from Bandai as "DX Tobaspino" (2013), part of the Zyudenryu toy line for Kyoryuger; it is mostly plastic and plugs together with the other Zyudenryu into larger robots. The Kyoryuger mecha use battery-shaped "Zyudenchi" as their play gimmick — slotted into dedicated ports, they trigger sound and light effects. For the US market, Bandai America (not Hasbro, which only took over the Power Rangers license in 2018/2019) released the "Spino Zord" in 2015 as a separate add-on that attaches to the Deluxe Dino Charge Megazord. The Spino Charge Megazord is therefore an assembly of several individual zords rather than a single boxed megazord.
