Description

Tobaspino (トバスピノ) is Zyudenryu (Guardian Beast) No. 00 from "Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger" (2013), a Spinosaurus-type guardian beast. Unlike the core TV-series Zyudenryu, Tobaspino originates from the theatrical film "Zyuden Sentai Kyoryuger: Gaburincho of Music," where it first appeared as a wild, hard-to-control beast turned against the heroes. In the US adaptation "Power Rangers Dino Super Charge" (then still under Bandai America / Saban) it was reworked as the "Spino Zord," a navy-and-yellow Spinosaurus notable for being tied to Keeper's staff rather than to an Energem. It is therefore not a regular main Megazord but a large, standalone auxiliary/movie Zord with its own battle mode.

Its key combination gimmick: Tobaspino merges with the Zyudenryu Ankydon (Ankylosaurus) and Bunpachy (Pachycephalosaurus) to form the humanoid battle mecha Spino DaiOh (スピノダイオー), adapted in the West as the "Spino Charge Megazord." Distinctive features are the elongated Spinosaurus body with its prominent dorsal sail and its ability to rear up and fight as a standalone mecha. Beyond those Zyudenryu, Tobaspino is also compatible with the separately sold DX Kyoryujin (Full Action Ver.) plus Zakutor and Parasagun to build the "Kyoryujin Western" configuration.

This item is the "DX Tobaspino FULLACTION VER" by Bandai (Japan), a reissue from the "Full Action" line released for Kyoryuger's 10th anniversary. It went on sale in November 2024 as a made-to-order, limited Premium Bandai exclusive (roughly 8,800 yen) rather than a general retail release. Compared with the original 2013 DX toy, the Full Action version prioritizes articulation, offering 15-plus points of movement across the body for dynamic posing. Construction is predominantly plastic, with no significant die-cast content, consistent with the DX Zyudenryu line. It retains compatibility with the classic combinations: paired with the likewise reissued Full Action versions of Ankydon and Bunpachy it forms Spino DaiOh. There is no separate Hasbro or Bandai America edition of this 2024 Full Action reissue — this specific re-release is Japan-exclusive.
