Description

The Go-Onger Ressha ("Go-Onger train") comes from the toyline for Ressha Sentai ToQger (Japan, 2014), a train/rail-themed Super Sentai team whose individual mecha ("Ressha" = train) couple together into the main robot ToQ-Oh. It is not one of the ToQger team's own battle mecha but an auxiliary/tribute Ressha, part of a set of "Legend Ressha" that pay homage to earlier Sentai series — here Engine Sentai Go-Onger (2008). The train is styled after Engine Speedor, the partner Engine of Go-On Red, and by extension his mecha Engine-Oh. A key point for collectors: this Ressha is a toy-exclusive item and does not appear in the television series. Because ToQger was never adapted into a Power Rangers season (the series was skipped for the U.S. market), the Go-Onger Ressha was released only in Japan and never as a Power Rangers product, so it has no official U.S. name. (Go-Onger itself was adapted as Power Rangers RPM, but this ToQger crossover piece was not.)

The combination mechanic mirrors the other ToQ Ressha: the Go-Onger Ressha is fitted into ToQ-Oh in place of the Red Ressha. The front section of Engine Speedor becomes the new chest piece, while the rear of the train adds an extra head to the robot, producing the homage combination "ToQ-Oh Engine-Oh" — ToQ-Oh rendered in the colors and head of Go-Onger's Engine-Oh. The unit can also be inserted into the line's electronic role-play gadgets (the ToQ Changer / Ressha-swap mechanism and the Hyper Cannon), where it triggers its own dedicated announcements and sounds, including the call "Go-Onger."

The item was produced by Bandai Japan as part of the ToQger line's "Ressha Gattai Series EX" (retailed in English as the "Ressha Combination Series EX"), released in 2014. It is not a complete robot but a single Ressha train module intended to be used with the separately sold DX ToQ-Oh. Construction is predominantly plastic, as is typical for the smaller Ressha in this range; the module has no significant die-cast content. Functionally it provides the swap-in chest/head part for ToQ-Oh plus a connector that triggers the electronic sounds of the ToQger gadgets. Its defining trait is its pure tribute nature: the Go-Onger Ressha is one of several Legend Ressha (others honoring Shinkenger, Gokaiger, Goseiger and Go-Busters, among others), letting collectors reimagine ToQ-Oh as an earlier Sentai team.
