Description
Ryu TeiOh (龍星王, roughly "Dragon Star King") is a mecha from Uchu Sentai Kyuranger (Japanese broadcast 2017–2018). It is the personal fighting robot of Ryu Commander (Shou Ronpo), leader of the Kyuranger team. Ryu TeiOh is formed by combining several Voyagers: the dragon-shaped Ryu Voyager makes up the helm, torso and legs, while the Kuma Voyager (Koguma Skyblue's Koguma and Ooguma Voyagers) forms one arm and the Sasori Voyager the other. Rather than the large team robot Kyuren-Oh, Ryu TeiOh is the leader's personal secondary mecha. The 2023 U.S. adaptation Power Rangers Cosmic Fury draws on Kyuranger, but this mecha was not released as a dedicated Power Rangers toy; the DX model remained Japan-exclusive.
Like every mecha in the show, Ryu TeiOh is activated by a Kyutama — a spherical key — in this case the Ryu Kyutama. The humanoid Ryu TeiOh is assembled from the Ryu, Kuma and Sasori Voyagers; the Ryu Voyager can also combine with Kyuren-Oh into larger formations (such as Ryutei Kyuren-Oh). Its defining traits are the recurring dragon motif, the prominent dragon head and the strong red-and-gold color scheme.
The DX toy was released in April 2017 by Bandai Japan as "Kyutama Gattai 10 DX Ryu Voyager." The complete Ryu TeiOh additionally requires the separately sold DX sets Kuma Voyager (Kyutama Gattai 11, Koguma & Ooguma) and Sasori Voyager (Kyutama Gattai 02). The Ryu Voyager is made predominantly of plastic and uses the line's characteristic Kyutama plug-in mechanism; the included Ryu Kyutama triggers the gimmicks. Without disassembly it converts from dragon spacecraft to robot and connects to the separately sold DX Kyuren-Oh via its combination joints. No Power Rangers version (Hasbro / Bandai America) was produced.
