Description
Trigger Machine Crane and Trigger Machine Drill come from Kaitou Sentai Lupinranger VS Keisatsu Sentai Patranger, the 42nd Super Sentai season (2018). The show pits two rival teams against each other: the thief-themed Lupinrangers, who pilot vehicles called Dial Fighters, and the police-themed Patrangers, whose vehicles are the Trigger Machines. Crane and Drill are auxiliary support Trigger Machines on the Patranger side. They are not part of the three core vehicles (Trigger Machine 1gou, 2gou and 3gou) that form the main mecha PatKaiser, but add-ons that expand it. There is no American name for either, because Lupinranger VS Patranger was never adapted into Power Rangers.
Within the fiction the small vehicles function as swappable armament. They plug into PatKaiser's arm and fist sockets in place of its standard hands: the Crane provides a crane-hook arm, the Drill a drill for close combat, and together they give PatKaiser two specialized arms. Through the standalone sentient VS Vehicle "Good Striker," the series concept also allowed cross-faction combinations, so Trigger Machines could likewise be mounted on the Lupinrangers' mecha (LupinKaiser). The draw is less a single fixed combination than a modular, mix-and-match system of add-on vehicles.
The DX toy was released in 2018 by Bandai Japan as part of the regular DX line for the series, typically packaged as a two-vehicle set. Both pieces are small, predominantly plastic vehicles with rolling wheels and peg connectors that clip onto the line's DX mecha; unlike the larger core robots, these support vehicles use little to no die-cast. Because the series was never brought to the West, no Hasbro or Power Rangers version exists — Trigger Machine Crane and Drill remained Japan-exclusive and were sold only through Bandai Japan.
