Description
MilNeedle (ミルニードル) is one of the Kishiryu (Knight Dragons) from Kishiryu Sentai Ryusoulger (2019). The dragon is modeled on a Stegosaurus and belongs to Bamba, Ryusoul Black; his RyuSoul – the collectible chips the show uses to summon each mecha – carries MilNeedle's spirit. In the US adaptation Power Rangers Dino Fury (2021) it corresponds to the Stego Spike Zord, associated there with the Black Ranger, Javi. Among the series' mecha, MilNeedle is a support Kishiryu rather than part of the core trio that forms the main robot, KishiRyuOh.
In battle MilNeedle uses the spines on its back (the Knight Needles), which launch off like rockets to bombard the opponent with a barrage. For the giant-robot combination it joins Tyramigo as the core mecha, together with the lower halves of Triken and Ankyloze, to form the alternate configuration KishiRyuOh MilNeedle. In this mode MilNeedle provides the head and armor and supplies the two Knight Mace flails as weapons; in Dino Fury the same combination is called the Dino Fury Megazord Spike Formation, whose maces are formed from the Stego Zord's legs. MilNeedle also takes part in the series' larger Five Knights combinations.
The DX toy was released in 2019 by Bandai Japan as the Kishiryu Series 05 DX MilNeedle. It is made of plastic (with no significant die-cast content) and, like the entire Kishiryu line, is fully modular: the parts detach, swap and re-attach freely with KishiRyuOh and the other Kishiryu. The black RyuSoul is included. The zord converts from its beast mode into the combination parts – head, armor and the two flails – for the MilNeedle formation. Hasbro later issued the counterpart within its Zord Link build system as the Black Stego Spike Zord (among others, in a set with the Tricera Blade Zord); the item covered here, however, is the Japanese Bandai release.
