Description
Grateful Phoenix (魔進合体 グレイトフルフェニックス / Mashin Gattai Grateful Phoenix) is from Mashin Sentai Kiramager (2020–2021). This Super Sentai season was never adapted into a Power Rangers series and is therefore Japan-exclusive, so no U.S. name exists. The series' mecha are consistently called "Mashin" (魔進). Grateful Phoenix is not a standalone ranger zord but a grand combination – the fourth robo combination in the toyline – obtained by the five core Kiramagers after they power up into the "Go Kiramagers." It appears as an additional, winged mecha alongside the series' main robot Kiramaizin and the train mecha King Express.
The combination is formed from two large Mashin: Mashin Oradin (魔進オラディン), styled as a crystal phoenix, and Mashin Hakobu (魔進ハコブー), a golden double-decker wide-body cargo jet. Combined, they form a phoenix-shaped flying mecha specialized in high-speed aerial attacks, rivaling King Express Zabyun in speed. Mashin Hakobu has three modes – Kiramei Stone Mode, Jet Mode, and Cargo Mode; in Cargo Mode it can carry the five core Mashin (Fire, Shovellow, Mach, Jetter, Helico) that combine into Kiramaizin. Like all Mashin, both units can also transform into the compact "Kiramei Stone" mode.
The DX toy was released by Bandai (Japan) as "Kiramager Robo Series 04 – Mashin Gattai DX Grateful Phoenix" on 24 October 2020 at an MSRP of 7,920 yen. The set includes both Mashin (Oradin + Hakobu), which together form the combination; construction is predominantly plastic (ABS/PVC), switchable between the modes described above. The Cargo Mode is compatible with the separately sold DX Kiramaizin set. Bandai Candy also offered a cheaper model-kit variant, the "Minipla Mashin Gattai Series EX Grateful Phoenix" (16 November 2020), which makes greater use of clear parts.
