The "Black Tarantula Knight" comes from Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger (2023), a Japan-only Super Sentai season with no Power Rangers adaptation. Its basis is the giant Shugod God Tarantula (ゴッドタランチュラ), the war machine of Jeramie Brasieri, the series' sixth "king," who transforms into the warrior Spider Kumonos (スパイダークモノス) and is also the ruler of the underground insect race Bugnarak. In its humanoid robot mode the Shugod is called Tarantula Knight (王様変形 タランチュラナイト). Unlike the five main Shugods that merge into Ohsama Gattai King-Ohger, Tarantula Knight acts as a standalone giant robo and is not part of the standard combination. The all-black version is identified in-fiction as Tarantula Abyss.

God Tarantula transforms between a spider mode and the upright Tarantula Knight mode. In combat it relies on its powerful, claw-tipped legs, can fire webbing from its abdomen, and is used for an unusual fighting style described as tapping into a fourth dimension. In addition, the smaller support Shugods God Cicada (ゴッドセミ) and God Pede (ゴッドムカデ, centipede) can be attached as extra weapons.

The DX toy is made by Bandai (Japan) and, as usual, consists mainly of ABS and PVC. The standard DX Tarantula Knight was released on 17 June 2023: it converts by reconfiguration from spider to robot, has more than twenty articulation points plus a goggle/visor gimmick in the eye area, and is compatible with the God Cicada and God Pede weapon parts. The black version referred to here is the Premium Bandai web-exclusive "Tarantula Abyss" (January 2024, approx. 11,550 Yen): a black/navy repaint with gold-plated parts (which the maker notes are prone to chipping), including recolored Cicada and Pede weapons to match. It can combine with DX King-Ohger ZERO as well as God Kabuto, God Scorpion and God Hopper to form a version of Extreme King-Ohger. Because King-Ohger received no Power Rangers adaptation, this mecha was never released as a Power Rangers toy and exists only as the Japanese DX release.
