Description
The BoonBoom Classic (Japanese ブンブンクラシック) is an auxiliary/upgrade vehicle from Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger (爆上戦隊ブンブンジャー), the 48th Super Sentai series (2024), which is themed around cars and vehicles. The team Boonboomger (Bun Red, Bun Blue, Bun Orange, Bun Black and Bun Pink) uses a range of vehicles called BoonBoom Cars that are not tied to a single ranger but can be driven by any member. The BoonBoom Classic is modelled after a classic American sedan (Checker Marathon) and does not serve as the main mecha; instead it is a support car and a combination component for the robot.
In the show the BoonBoom Cars dock onto the BoonBoom Trailer via a gate mode and switch into an attack mode. Combined with the BoonBoom Racing, the BoonBoom Classic attaches to the BoonBoomger Robo to form the BoonBoomger Robo Knight, a knight-themed configuration specialized in high speed and swordsmanship that wields the Bakuage Sword (and the shoulder-mounted Bakuage Burner). The BoonBoom Classic can also be mounted onto the robot on its own as armament (attack mode).
The DX toy is made by Bandai (Japan) and was released on March 2, 2024 as part of the BoonBoom Car Series at a price of 1,540 yen. It is made mostly of plastic (PVC/ABS), transforms from car to attack mode via a fold-out mechanism, and connects to the separately sold DX BoonBoomger Robo; when used together with the separately sold DX BoonBoom Changer it triggers dedicated sound effects. As a notable variant, a Cool Blue Version (a straight blue repaint) was released on September 21, 2024, and the BoonBoom Classic is also included in several boxed sets. Boonboomger was never adapted into Power Rangers, so this zord exists solely as a Japanese Bandai toy and was never released as a Power Rangers product.
