Description
In the 2024 Super Sentai series "Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger" (爆上戦隊ブンブンジャー, a car/vehicle-themed team), the Boonboom Killer Robo (Japanese ブンブンキラーロボ) is not a hero mecha but a villain robot. It is summoned by the Sanseater (サンシーター), the antagonist trio of the enemy organization Hashiriyan, and serves as the dark mirror image of the heroes' main mecha, the Boonboomger Robo. Conceived as an evil "designed-to-lose" counterpart (yarare-yaku), it confronts the Boonboomgers with a copy of their own combination. No Power Rangers adaptation exists: Boonboomger was never adapted for the West, so the Killer Robo is Japan-exclusive and never appeared as a Power Rangers toy.
The Killer Robo is formed from a Boonboom Killer Trailer plus two Boonboom Killer Cars (Killer Off-Road and Killer Wagon). Its combination reuses the heroes' "gate" gimmick: the trailer shifts from trailer mode into a gate mode, the two killer cars drive through the gate and flip into attack mode, and all three parts then unite into the completed robot. It is armed with the Killer Missile and Killer Drill.
The DX toy is made by Bandai (Japan) and was sold as the "DX Boonboom Killer Robo & DX Boonboom Danger" set. The robot uses ABS, PC and POM, while the bundled device uses ABS, PC and PA; the set retailed at 13,200 yen (tax included). The DX Boonboom Danger is the dark version of the Boonboom Changer transformation/control device and includes voice lines from the three Sanseater plus summoning and combination sound effects. The set was a Premium Bandai exclusive (preorders from 27 May 2024, shipping from autumn 2024); the DX Killer Robo on its own later reached general retail (November 2024), and a Minipla model-kit version was additionally released through Premium Bandai.
