Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger

Vehicles, through and through: Bakuage Sentai Boonboomger puts them clearly front and center. Nothing new, but in my opinion it's still nicely done.

There was one particularly curious campaign surrounding the Boonboom Supercar. In Japanese stores, it was handed out to schoolchildren for free if they shouted "Boonboomja!" (or some similar slogan) at the checkout. A classic promo stunt, one that's of course hardly reproducible outside of Japan, which in hindsight makes the vehicle a rather unusual collector's item.

On top of that, there's a whole range of toy-exclusive vehicles, since the vehicles are also the season's collectible object. These include, among others:

- Boonboom DumpCar

- Boonboom Mixer

- Boonboom Kyukyusha

- Boonboom Hashigosha

- Boonboom Taxi

- Boonboom DenkiCar

- Boonboom Shokugan Truck

- Boonboom Gashapon Truck

Whether all of these vehicles will find their way into my collection is still up in the air at the moment. That's exactly why there's also a particularly large number of special editions of the Auxiliary Vehicles here, some of which are hard to get. Many of them were released as freebies with magazines like Televi-Kun or were cinema exclusives tied to the Japanese movie.

For completionists, Boonboomger is a real minefield. For selective collectors, it's more of a season where you have to decide very deliberately what you actually want to own.
